CRIME NEWSA 37 year old man is this country’s latest murder victim.

The man is said to have been gunned down this morning in his bed in Esperanza Village.

Reports indicate that the incident took place at about 12:30 am today.

Our partners at report that two men entered the home along Spike Avenue, Esperanza Village, and made their way to the bedroom of a truck driver, identified as Larry Sieunarine.

The man was said to be in bed at the time with his 39 year old wife.

The gunmen then opened fire on Sieunarine, killing him instantly.

The woman, and her 16-year-old son who was also at home at the time, were not harmed in the incident.

The gunmen then fled the scene on foot.

Investigation into the killing is continuing.


The charred remains of a body was found in a vehicle around 7 o’clock this morning, is yet to be identified.

The corpse was discovered at Connector Road in Freeport and investigators say the person was burnt beyond recognition.

CRIME NEWSTen people are currently in police custody following reports of robberies and break-ins in the Tunapuna district.

The report states that the exercises were conducted between 1pm and 10pm yesterday in the Tunapuna district by a team of officers from the Northern Division.

The officers executed several search warrants and performed several stop and searches in the district.

The 10 suspects, aged between 16 and 54, were arrested for a variety of offences related to reports of robberies and larceny in the area.

The exercises are part of the division’s continuing zero tolerance approach to crime in its district.

Many similar exercises are expected to be coordinated this week in the various areas of the jurisdiction.

A Matelot businessman is expected to appear before a Sangre Grande Magistrate today after he was allegedly held with a sawed off shotgun.

The man was held at about 5pm on Tuesday by officers of the Eastern Division, and other officials from the Toco Police Station and Matelot Police Station.

The officers, acting on information received, executed a search warrant at the home of the businessman during which the homemade sawed-off shotgun was allegedly discovered and seized according to Loop.

The man was detained and was charged for the relevant offences.

He is due to appear before the court today.
