A 30 year old Remand Yard Prisoner lost his life behind bars on Tuesday while awaiting trial for murder.
Joe Parks was stabbed and killed during an altercation with two other prisoners at the Golden Grove prisons in Arouca yesterday.
According to reports, at about 10 am, at the North Wing of the Remand prison, Parks was in his cell along with other inmates when a heated argument took place; an improvised weapon was used to stab Parks.
Parks was stabbed on the left side of his neck and later died.
President of the Prisons Officers Association, Cerron Richards, in an interview with the Power Breakfast show on Power 102.1fm this morning, said without the help of CCTV cameras incidents like these would continue to occur.
Richards said the association approached past and presents administrations to have the cameras installed and several issues dealt with, however nothing was done.

Meanwhile in more news of crime, a Cascade man shot to death on Tuesday.
Collin Harewood of Casablanca in Cascade was shot multiple times about the body last evening. Reports indicate that at approximately 9.30 pm on Tuesday, residents heard gun shots.
Two men were later observed fleeing the scene. Harewood’s body wasn’t discovered until 12.30 am this morning.
He was reportedly still alive when a resident found him.
Police and emergency officials responded to the call and Harewood was later taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigations are continuing.
