Pree School employee charged with manslaughter.

Euralia Thomas, the pre school employee under whose care, a 6 year old student of Sharon’s Pre School had drowned in 2014, has been charged with manslaughter and willful neglect of a child.

Thomas appeared before Chief Magistrate Marcia Ayers Caesar yesterday charged with the offence and was granted $75,000 bail. 6 year old Jemimah Agard, a resident of East Dry River, Port of Spain, was among a class of students who were taken to the pool at the YMCA, located at Wrightson Road, Woodbrook, on Monday 2nd June, 2014, for a swim.

Reports are that after the students’ swim class had ended and the children had gone to change their clothes, Jemimah reportedly asked to use the toilet and was allowed to do so. She was later found unresponsive at the bottom of the swimming pool and was subsequently pronounced dead at the Port of Spain General Hospital.

The matter was yesterday postponed to August 17th, 2016.
