The Order of Trinidad and Tobago (ORTT) was offered to Prime Ministers Patrick Manning and Basdeo Panday by Mrs Persad-Bissessar two week ago.

Mr. Manning declined the award on the grounds that he was still the Member of Parliament for San Fernando East.

He also questioned Mrs Persad-Bissessar motive for the award since she had accused him of and his Government of being corrupt during the 2010 General Election campaign.

Mr. Panday did not say whether or not he would’ve accepted the award.

When the list of awardees was released on Saturday his name did not appear.

Mrs. Persad-Bissessar maintained that both men were deserving of such an honor since they gave so many years of service to Trinidad and Tobago.

I just want to know whether the lady there, Mrs Kamla there, wore a hat to the awards function after 6 pm.
