The Integrity Commission in a letter read by Prime Minister, Kamla Persad Bissessar this afternoon revealed she has no matters before the body at this time.

On Wednesday the Opposition People’s National Movement refuted statements by the Prime Minister that she has been cleared by the Integrity Commission in the matter involving her friends the Gopaul family.

Last week Thursday at the post cabinet media briefing the Prime Minister read from a letter she had received from the Integrity Commission.

The Prime Minister said the letter found that her stay at the Gopaul’s home after winning General Elections last year, did not amount to a breach of the Integrity in Public Life Act.

However, speaking at the Office of the Opposition Leader Wednesday, Opposition Senator Fitzgerald Hinds said the Prime Minister’s statements only spoke to one of the issues being investigated by the Commission.

Mr. Hinds said that he received a letter from the Commission Wednesday in which the body indicated that it is still proceeding with investigations.

However, speaking at the today’s post cabinet news briefing Mrs Persad Bissessar indicated she wrote the   Commission enquiring if she had any other integrity  situation against her  being probed by the body but the  response was in the negative.

The Prime Minister accused the Opposition of engaging in mischief and lies.
