Prime minister Kamla Persad Bissessar has rescheduled her address to the nation to 7:30 this evening.
The Office of Prime Minister had initially indicated that Mrs. Persad Bissessar would make a statement at 4pm but the time has been shifted to 7:30pm.
While the statement from the St.Clair Office of the Prime Minister did not reveal exactly what the Prime Minister would be speaking about, one of the hot issues facing the People’s Partnership government is the witness tampering allegations brought against Attorney General Anand Ramlogan.
Last week the Police Service ordered a probe into an allegation made by the Police Complaints Authority Director, David West, against the AG of an attempt to pervert the course of justice.
The investigation will be led by Deputy Commissioner of Police – Operations (Ag.) Harold Phillip.
In a statement the Acting Commissioner of Police, Stephen Williams, explained that he was visited by Mr. West last week Thursday at Police Administration Building, Port- of -Spain and presented with a signed statement on the matter.
Mr. Ramlogan has denied ever asking Mr. West to withdraw his witness statement in a defamation case against Opposition Leader Dr. Keith Rowley.
