Despite falling oil prices Prime Minister, Kamla Persad Bissessar maintains that the country’s economy is performing well.
Energy officials say all oil companies have been affected by the sharp fall in the price of oil over the past year.
After peaking at about $115 a barrel in the summer of 2014, the price more than halved, although it has recovered slightly since the beginning of the year.
Speaking at Wednesday’s opening of the La Brea Police Station, Mrs. Persad Bissessar said the country achieved a surplus of over 40 million dollars in the first half of 2015.
