Prime Minster terms Opposition Leader’s proclamation an ‘insult’

by | Jun 19, 2014

Govt has a plan of action

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has accused the Opposition Leader of playing a significant role in the fall of the previous People National Movement Government.

The PM’s statements was in response to comments made by Dr. Keith Rowley at the Port-of-Spain Rotary Club on Tuesday.

Dr. Rowley said if he was PM the Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago (UDECOTT) would have been fired and an apology would have been issued to the country.

He added if this was done the party would still be in Government.

However, Mrs. Persad-Bissessar said this assertion is an insult.

She said Dr Rowley has never fully explained his own involvement in the rise of Calder Hart and pointed to the fact that he remained a Minister while the controversy took place.

Mrs. Persad-Bissessar added that Dr Rowley has also forgotten that it was the PNM’s Vision 2020 that drew rage from the electorate, because of a series of pie in the sky policy objectives that never took citizen views into consideration.
