Two days after an officer is attacked at his home, Commissioner of Prisons Sterling Stuart says his men remain under constant threat.
Reports say the officer was at his Princes Town home with other relatives when, at about 9:00 pm on Monday night, armed men stormed the home.
There was said to be a confrontation during which the prison officer was shot in both legs.
The assailants then fled the scene.
The injured officer is now said to be warded at hospital.
Speaking with News Power Now this morning, Commissioner Stuart said the cause of the incident is not yet known but there remains a concern for prison officers because of their line of work.
Mr Stuart also praised his officers for the work they have been doing and their contributions to society.
He said his officers are always advised to take the necessary approaches to avoid any confrontation with bad inmates.
