Member of the Way of Holiness, Rudolph Garcia, is suggesting that there be a link between rehabilitation programmes for prison inmates and when they are released in society.
He made the proposal at a sitting of the Joint Select Committee on Social Services and Public Administration today.
The sitting focused on the challenges of prisoner re-entry into society and prisoner reintegration services of Trinidad and Tobago.
Mr Garcia gave his view on the reintegration process and how critical this aspect is former prison inmates.
Reformed offender, Stacey Ann Beckles, also shared her experience.
Another ex-prison inmate, Dane Manickchand, noted that what the prison service would like to implement must gain the backing of officers for it to be effective.
Meanwhile, Pastor Wilma Kelly of the Way of the Holiness informed the JSC of some of the situations she encountered during her 23 years of ministering in the prison system.
