The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has revealed that a Prisons Officer was caught attempting to smuggle marijuana and a sum of cash into the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca.
The accused was caught with three packets of marijuana in his lunch bag on Saturday at around 7:30 pm.
The discovery was made by Acting Supt. of Prisons R. Dass.
A further search of the Prisons Officer’s car revealed an additional five packets of marijuana and four thousand dollars ($4,000.00) in cash.
A total of eight packets of marijuana weighing approximately four hundred and twenty-seven grams were discovered.
Cpl Ramcharan, of the Arouca Criminal Investigations Department, laid the charges.
The Prisons Officer is due to appear in court on Monday.
