Head of Public Relations at the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago responded to a protest by the Communication Workers Union held on Friday to highlight insufficient protective gear for TSTT employees.
He stated that employees at the company have been issued protective gear, however, CWU President, Joseph Remy claimed that
the company has not responded to the demands for proper protective gear.
Mr. Suite said the Occupational Safety and Health Committee made recommendations to the executive management of TSTT for
new types of personal protective clothing.
He added the recommendation was under review and before the company could make a decision, the issue escalated.
Mr. Suite said there had to be a procedure before decisions could be made at any organization and the CWU was aware of this
He said their protest action on Friday, was premature and misleading to the public.
