PSA President Watson Duke wants action not empty promises from the Tobago Regional Health Authority on the matter of backpay owed to workers and medical staff.
Last Friday workers staged a protest at the office of Tobago House of Assembly Finance Secretary Joel Jack. They are demanding that all outstanding monies be paid immediately.
Secretary of Health and Social Services Claudia Groome-Duke has stated that the THA is in the process of sourcing funds from an overdraft facility to furnish disbursement of 50 percent of the retroactive payments owed to workers which is expect to be available on Wednesday 12th July.
Duke says that this issue has been prolonged unnecessarily and workers are, through protest action, simply expressing their frustration.
