Nine safety and security measures are agreed upon to improve conditions at Port of Spain General Hospital.
The Public Services Association explains the measures come following a recent upsurge in breaches of security at the institution
resulting incidents of violence towards members of staff by patients and visitors.
PSA in a media release Monday said the union met with the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, Administrator, Security Manager Head
Nurses and other key stakeholders.
Some of the measures to be taken include the immediate replacement of the current crop of security officers at the Port of Spain
Maternity Hospital and the placement of security personnel at the entrance and exits of all wards.
The union said it closely monitor the implementation of the action its deems necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare of its
members and all health care workers of the North West Regional Health Authority.
