The government of this country has delivered regulations which will govern the functioning of three important pieces of legislation, to the Senate. The regulations are related to child protection legislation and regulations governing nurseries and foster care homes.
The Ministry of Communication has indicated that the regulations have been finalized for the Children Act 2012, the Children’s Authority Act 2000 and the Children’s Community Residences, Foster Care and Nurseries Act 2000.
The regulations are critical to the Children’s Act 2012 being fully proclaimed, bringing into law stringent regulations and protection measures for children, including those in foster care homes and nurseries. The ministry says the regulations were also necessary to make the Children’s Authority fully operational.
Stating that the Child Protection Task Force was set up to ensure that all measures to protect children were given the highest level of priority and fast-tracked, the Prime Minister has assured that there would be significant progress before the end of the year.
The Ministry of Gender, Youth and Child Development is now moving forward to advance protection measures, including the strengthening of the National Children’s Registry.
