Member of Parliament for Pointe-a-Pierre Errol McLeod was heavily criticized yesterday for his decision to meet with officials from Petrotrin before meeting with residents affected by the July 29th oil spill.
Mr. Mc Leod and Minster of Energy and Energy Affairs Kevin Ramnarine met with officials from the state owned oil company before paying a to Marabella.
He agreed with the residents that they are living in a disaster zone; however he maintained he needed to hear both sides.
Mr. Mc Leod proposed that the resident be relocated over a period of time, but the residents did not agree with him.
One resident who spoke with members of the media said they expected to hear more from the MP and officials from Petrotrin.
Five residents were selected to meet with officials from Petrotrin later today.
