Residents protest EMA’s decision to give Bhagwansingh’s clearence for building.

Residents are again protesting against the construction of a five-storey office building in Trincity by Bhagwansingh’s Hardware and Steel Industries.

Previously, work on the site was stopped after Bhagwansingh’s received two work stop orders from the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation (TPRC).

However, residents have reported that an advertisement in the newspaper over the weekend indicate that work on the construction of the building would resume on Monday July 11th.

The residents are claiming that they were not aware that that Environmental Management Authority had approved a certificate of Environmental Clearance (CEC) giving Bhagwansingh’s clearance to proceed with construction.

The residents say that the project will adversely affects the environment, create traffic-congestion, and damage their property due to pile-driving.
