Rev. Abdul-Mohan’s appointment came as a result of businessman Subhas Ramkhelawan’s resignation from the upper house.
Mr. Ramkhelawan demitted office after his stock brokerage firm was involved in the controversial purchase and sale of over 600,000 First Citizens Bank shares. He said he vacated his position to prevent any possible legal action that may arise concerning financial matters in the public domain.
The Office of the President says Rev. Abdul-Mohan is a clergy of the Presbyterian Church.
It added she received her Licentiate in Theology (L.Th) at St. Andrew’s Theological College, Trinidad, in 1987. She was ordained as a Minister of Words and Sacrament of the Presbyterian Church of Trinidad and Tobago in 1989 and in 1993 received her Masters of Arts Degree (M.A.) from Princeton Theological Seminary, USA.
