Rihanna, Barbados’s globally recognized pop star, has announced that her Clara Lionel Foundation has donated $5 million to combat COVID-19.

The superstar and philanthropist says the cash will support groups in the United States and around the world, and will be used to support a myriad of efforts including food banks serving at-risk communities in the U.S, speed up testing and medical care in countries like Haiti and Malawi.

TMZ reports that the money will also help doctors and nurses on the frontline, with protective equipment, maintenance of intensive care units and the acceleration of the development of vaccines and other methods to fight the disease as well as aid with the distribution of critical respiratory supplies.
