The Riot squad had to be called out after 8 PM yesterday, to quell an apparent riot at the San Fernando Magistrate’s Court prisoner holding bay.


Several Units were called out to assist officers at the holding bay when the fracas broke out.

Officers employed the use of shields, in an attempt to protect themselves and bring the prisoners back under control.

While the incident occurred, female relatives of the prisoners were on the road shouting abuses at the Police.

All the prisoners involved identify as Muslim and are being held on various offenses including murder.
