Roman Catholic priest Father Gerard ‘Gerry’ Pantin has passed away.
He was 85 year old.
Father Pantin died at approximately 9 am at Spiritan House, Port of Spain.
Fr. Pantin was the brother of former Archbishop Anthony Pantin and he recieved the nation’s highest award the Trinity Cross, now known as the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
During his life Fr. Pantin founded Service Volunteered for All (Servol) and participated in a number of charitable causes for which he was honored.
Funeral arrangements are yet to be finalized.
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has sent condolences to the family of Fr. Pantin.
Mrs. Persad-Bissessar said the nation has lost a true and genuine humanitarian.
She described Fr. Pantin as a gentleman who epitomized compassion.
