Councillor for Toco, Terry Rondon, is calling on the authorities to enforce the law when it comes to truckers and the maximum weight they carry.

He made the call this morning as he spoke with News Power Authority after the temporary Bridge in Galera Point near Salybia Beach collapsed yesterday.

It is believed that this was a result of the excessive weight of a three-tonne truck filled with material, passing over the bridge.

According to reports, the accident occurred around four o clock yesterday evening and visitors to the nearby beaches were unable to leave the area.

Mr. Rondon also expressed gratitude for the quick response from the Ministry of Works who worked over night to repair the bridge.
