Incident free- that’s how Thursday’s Secondary Assessment Examination has been summed up by the Ministry of Education.
The examination which began at 9 am and ended at 12 noon on Thursday, came on the heels of the unfortunate suicide of a pupil who attended the El Socorro Hindu Primary School. The ministry, in a statement noted that Devindra Boodoo was reported to have been in good spirits when he left school on Wednesday. The teen was however found hanging sometime on Wednesday evening. Devindra was described by his school principal as the most improved student in his class.
Separately, the St. George Education District reportedly experienced one minor administrative problem on examination day where a few Testers did not report for duty; however the Ministry said its District Office contacted persons from their Reserve List, and they arrived on time to ensure a prompt start.
