Citizens are being assured that the country’s power supply is not risk and there will be no compromise of its distribution to the public.
Energy Minister, Kevin Ramnarine, made the revelation at Thursday’s post cabinet news briefing.
On Wednesday the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission announced a load shedding plan after a leak developed at a pipeline that supplies Natural Gas to its generators.
T&TEC disclosed that NGC would be attempting to rectify the situation over the next three days.
However, the utility advised that until then the public needs to conserve its electricity use.
Questioned on the matter by reporters Minister Ramnarine was not ready to give a specified time when the problem will be addressed.
Minister Ramnarine said preliminary information has ruled out an act of sabotage. He also admitted that there will be a level of financial loss from the development.
