Former Prime Minister Patrick Manning has alluded that he may face disciplinary action by People’s National Movement (PNM) leader Dr.Keith Rowley and his executive.
In a letter posted on Facebook, Mr. Manning said he received a correspondence on November 25th in which he was summoned to see Dr. Rowley and the San Fernando East Constituency Executive.
Mr. Manning further stated he received another letter the following day indicating that the party’s executive will be present at the meeting instead.
Mr. Manning said this configuration of the proposed meeting suggests that there is some serious misunderstanding that he had committed some infraction and was being hauled before the party’s executive for disciplinary reasons.
The San Fernando East MP reminded Dr. Rowley of a discussion they had where the PNM leader said he was concerned that the Government might set a date for the General Election before the end of this year.
According to Mr. Manning, Dr. Rowley asked what he proposed to do with respect to the Constituency of San Fernando East, so that nominations could be initiated.
Mr. Manning said he told Dr. Rowley that he was still assessing the situation, and would report to him in two weeks.
The former PM said he contacted Balisier House to request an appointment to meet with Dr. Rowley and hand over the report, but, General Secretary Ashton Ford advised that he was out of the country.
Mr. Manning ended his letter by requesting a meeting with Dr. Rowley where they can discuss his constituency’s future.
