‘Sangre Grande is the least developed Corporation’

by | May 13, 2014 | 1 comment

Terry Rondon 4The Sangre Grande Regional Corporation made an appearance before the Joint Select Committee on Municipal Corporations and Service Commissions to answer questions on its operations today.

The Corporation which was elected following last year’s Local Government Elections is  led by Chairman Martin Terry Rondon.

According to the chairman, the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation is approximately 898.9 km² and is the one of the least developed areas on the island.

Minister of Local Government, Marlene Coudray, responded to Mr. Rondon saying that the corporation’s budget has been increased.

Staff shortages are also a serious problem facing the regional corporation and the corporation’s Chief Executive officer stated they are using On the Job Trainees to address the shortfall.

But this was met with outrage by Senate Vice President, James Lambert.

Mr. Lambert also stated the corporation continues to breach collective agreements between the organization and daily rated unions.

Hmmm this county was/is a pnm strong hold and can be considered a sure sest for them…after so many booms and trillions of.dollars this is what we have..undeveloped county….the shamelessness of the pnm to.come.back to us and ask for our vote every election…..added to the fact the past and present local govt persons refuse to do their jobs or have selected few areas to do work in…
