Education Minister, Dr. Tim Gopeesingh, says his ministry is in the process of implementing several new programmes to deal with the issue of bullying in schools.
The Education Minister’s comments follow an incident at the grant Memorial Presbyterian School where an 11 year old boy was almost strangled by a rope which was being held by two other pupils at the school.
Dr. Gopeesingh spoke on the matter during an interview Monday morning.
In conceding that there are hundreds of incidents of bullying at schools the Education Minister outlined several intervention programmes which are being implemented.
Dr. Gopeesingh added that there is a hotline which school children can call if they ever encounter any such difficulties at schoo.
