Tomorrow at 2pm officials of the Scrap Metal Dealers Association are scheduled to meet with Attorney General, Anand Ramlogan, to discuss concerns about restrictions which they claim are hurting their operation and livelihood.

Last month, Attorney General, Anand Ramlogan, revealed there are now provisions in the law which will give the Police Commissioner and the Chief of Defense Staff the power to seize scrap metal during the current state of emergency.

The A.G. maintained the move was necessary due to vital information received by the security authorities and confirmed there  are provisions in the order which will address compensation of persons affected.

In a News Power Authority Association interview this afternoon, Scrap Metal Dealers Association President, Allan Ferguson, insisted the majority of operators in the industry are complying with the country’s laws.

Mr. Ferguson said the group welcomes the government’s move to regularize the industry but called for this to be done in a fair and transparent manner.
