Two Independent Senators have expressed their disappointment with the Security and Exchange’s (SEC) performance over the past decade.
Senator Dhaneshwar Mahabir during debate on the motion to adopt a Special Select Committed report on the commission criticized the fact that no one had been brought before the court for financial crimes.
Senator Mahabir highlighted the fact that there have been many public scandals yet no one was arrested or charged.
Another, Senator Dr Ralph Balgobin said one of the major issues facing the SEC was funding
Dr. Balgobin referred to the Hindu Credit Union and CLICO as an example of the SEC’s short comings.
