Security Ministry taking proactive approach

news 1The Minister of National Security has commented on the recent shooting incident where the Canadian Parliament was attacked.

He described the incident as a wake up call for Trinidad and Tobago.
He revealed that the proactivity of the National Security Apparatus in the last few months demonstrated that it was already awake.

Minister Griffith said that T&T needed to remain vigilant with no room for complacency.
He lamented that much of what was being preached as important for our protection was treated as alarmism and overt militarization when proposed.

The Minister further noted that proactive measures have been implemented.
These include, the creation of much needed Intelligence agencies, and the upgrading of those that already existed.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) working closely with the Trinidad and Tobago defense Force (TTDF).

As well as  the establishment of the National Operations Centre (NOC) established to create a centrally coordinated response to any emergency.

The Minister of National Security reiterates that it is important that we be alert, as complacency in circumstances such as these come at a heavy cost.
