This call was made by Senate President Timothy Hamel-Smith.
He was paid tribute yesterday to former independent senator and prominent senior counsel Dana Seetahal at the Senate sitting in the Parliament building, International Waterfront Centre, Port of Spain.
He bemoaned her death, and claimed that work had to be done to ensure her death was not in vain.
He also stated that it was vital that all who collectively made up the stakeholders in the criminal justice system, including legislators, the judiciary, the Police Service, defence lawyers, prosecutors, the Ministry of Justice and the media, accept the challenge to overhaul the system from top to bottom.
He further noted that if the murdering of those involved in the criminal justice system was allowed to pass without overhauling the system, there would be a return to the law of the jungle.
