Minister of Education Dr. Tim Gopeesingh stated that all schools would be opened on the first day of the new school term.
However this was not the case on the first day of school yesterday, as some schools remained closed.
The Pleasantville Government ECCE Center remained closed yesterday while the Pleasantville Secondary School was opened.
The Union Presbyterian primary School opened its doors after being closed for 2 years of relocation in a nearby Community Center.
Dr Gopeesingh revealed that despite a few hiccups he was happy with the work done by the 120 plus contractors, and the Education Facilities Company Limited (EFCL) in conjunction with the Ministry of Education.
He commended the work done and stated that the Ministry would look into the few that still had some issues.
Dr. Goppsingh also highlighted the number of schools that were repaired and built.
