Local online shipping companies say they are totally confused as to how the imposed 7% Tax on purchases via air fright will work out.

Speaking on the Power Breakfast show on Power 102.1fm this morning Director of Websource, Lincoln Maharaj, whose company operates via air, said they received an immediate influx of customers concerned about increased fares and what the process will be like.

However he said they are still left in the dark about the implementation of the process.

Meanwhile owner and Director Sea Box TT, Joe Pires, whose company operate via sea freight, said his company has seen a spike new online customers, within the last week.

Speaking with host Rhoda Bharath, Pires said persons have gravitated from using air fright to sea freight since the Budget announcement.

In the budget statement the Finance Minister said the 7% charge will generate approximately $70M in additional revenue for the country.
