Shortfall on funding for Tobago

TOBAGOThere are complaints from the Tobago House of Assembly about what it describes as a shortfall of funding from Central Government.

T.H.A. Finance and Enterprise Secretary, Joel Jack, made the comment while presenting the 2014 \2015 Tobago Budget yesterday.

Last year Mr. Jack presented a 4.95 billion dollar budget.

He said a shortfall in funds has created challenges for the Assembly to properly carry out the island’s affairs.

Mr Jack also confirmed that the Assembly is taking action to improve its accounting systems and bring it up to international standards.

The THA Finance Secretary said the move will bring several benefits including ensuring transparency, value for money and accountability.
