Former Education Minister, Dr. Tim Gopeesingh

Former Education Minister, Dr. Tim Gopeesingh, speaking in the parliament as debate continued on the 2016/2017 budget

presentation, said the government has proven incapable of managing and fixing problems faced by the population. He said while the minister had promised that all schools would be repaired in time for the new school term in September 2016, there were shortfalls thereafter.

Meanwhile, commenting on the issue of the preparedness of schools, President of the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teacher’s

Association, Devanand Sinanan said there were various reasons for the disruption of some schools.

Mr. Sinanan could not say exactly how many schools had been disrupted since the beginning of the new school term just over one month ago.
