A total of $300,000 bail was granted to six officers who appeared a court charge with setting a teenager on fire.
They have been identified as Corporal Roger Reid, Constable Bryan Dookie, Constable Andre Watson, Constable Simon Marshall; Constable Pradeep Ramdhin, and Woman Police Constable Alena Ambrally.
The officers appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington charged with misbehavior in public office by unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm.
The alleged offense took place on December 24, 2013 while Jamerson John was in police custody.
They were not called upon to plead as the charges were laid indictably by Sargent Seepersad of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Professional Standards Bureau.
The matter was postponed to Friday and transferred to the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court.
