Officers of the Southern Division are cautioning members of the travelling public who utilize public transportation late at night. Their warning comes on the heels of a robbery which reportedly took place at around 12:45 this morning.
Police reports state that 37- year- old commuter, Lyndon Sherwood boarded a metallic purple colored station wagon that was driven by a woman of African descent at Forres Avenue in Cocoyea. Sherwood said he requested to be taken to San Fernando, however upon turning onto Simpson Brown Terrace, the back seat passenger in the vehicle pointed a firearm at him and robbed him of two mobile phones, and a debit card. Sherwood was then dropped off at the St. Joseph traffic lights and the suspect escaped.
Police said there have been several similar robberies.
They say a man of African descent and light brown in complexion along with a female driver are suspected of carrying out these robberies. Police also believe the vehicles used are either stolen or rented, and the registration numbers changed.
Investigations are ongoing.
