A fire appliance was struck and a motorist escaped death early this morning while Fire Officers were responding to an accident along the South bound lane of the Solomon Hochoy Highway in the Chaguanas area.
A female passenger of the vehicle that slammed into the fire truck was reportedly cut out of that vehicle. The severity of her injuries are unknown at this time. Three vehicles, including an ambulance that was at the scene, responding to the initial accident, were damaged. One female fire officer is also said to have suffered an injury to her leg. The driver of the speeding car told fire officers that he had fallen asleep.
Investigations are ongoing.
