The death of a Spiritual Shouter Baptist leader upon his arrival at the Piarco International Airport yesterday, has surprised many.

Head of the delegation of the Spiritual Baptists Diaspora in New York, King Shepherd Carlton Callender, unexpectedly died after he collapsed, seconds after walking out

of the VIP lounge of the Piarco International Airport after arriving for a function.

He was the brother of Power 102.1FM talk show host, Barrington Skippy Thomas.

Speaking on the Power Breakfast show this morning, Thomas said Mr. Callender had spoken of feeling unwell prior to his trip.

He said Mr. Callendar was one who worked arduously and got little rest.

The Tobagonian native was taken to the Arima Health Facility after collapsing but was pronounced dead on arrival at the health facility, yesterday.

Callendar was a part of a group that arrived for the start of a pilgrimage on the occasion of Spiritual Shouter Baptist Liberation Day being commemorated on Monday. He
was scheduled to give greetings last evening at the Prime Minister’s dinner function celebrating Spiritual Shouter Baptist Liberation Day at the Diplomatic Centre in
St Ann’s.
