St Anthony’s stay on firm ground in Secondary Schools Football League

St Anthony’s College unleashed another goal-scoring splurge on their Westmoorings home ground yesterday, pounding relegation-threatened  Chaguanas North 6-1 in their deferred 12th round match in the inaugural
Premier Division of the Secondary Schools Football League.

*The victory coming in a match that was postponed from Saturday because of water-logged playfied put the Collegiates back in second on the 14-team standings, one point behind Naparima College.*

*St Anthony’s are also two ahead of third=placed San Juan North Secondary.

*Chaguanas meanwhile stayed 12th on the table with 9 points from 12 matches and look destined for demotion along with Arima North and East Mucurapo, both with 7 points from 12.*

*All 14 teams are engaged in their 13th and last round of matches tomorow with Naparima and St Anhony’s sure of being among the top three to be joined by the Tobago Zonal champion for the round-robin contest to determine the national League champions.*

*San Juan North, third with 25 points from their 12 matches, will lock down their top=three slot with a draw or a win against seventh-placed St Augustine in tomorrow’s final round clash at Bourg Mulatresse.*

*St Anthony’s host East Mucurapo and Naparima also play sixth-placed Shiva Boys Hindu College on their Lewis Street, San Fernando ground.*

*St Benedict’s College in fourth with 22 points and fifth-placed Trinity College will aim to win their final matches against Presentation College and Chaguanas North respectively to give themselves a chance of a top-three finish in the event of a slip-up by San Juan North
