Dignitaries have begun to arrive at the Parliament Building, International Waterfront Complex, for the first day of the official state funeral of former President and Prime Minister, Arthur N.R Robinson.
President Anthony Carmona was among the first people to pay their respects to the former commander of the armed forces.
President Carmona and his wife Reema filed pass Mr. Robinson’s flag draped casket at 8:08 AM. He the paid his sympathies to Mr. Robinson’s son, daughter and grand-daughter and then signed the condolence book.
Former President, George Maxwell Richards and his wife Dr. Jean Ramjohn-Richards were next in line to pay their respects at 8:20 AM.
Members of the public will be able to file pass Mr. Robinson’s casket between the hours of 10:45am to 5:45pm.
Mr. Robinson body will be taken back to the Clark and Battoo funeral at 6 PM.
A state ecumenical service will be he held in honor of Mr. Robinson at the National Academy of the Performing Arts (NAPA) on May 1.
Following that service, Mr. Robinson’s body will lie in state in the eastern lobby of the NAPA until 3 pm.
From there his body will be escorted by coach to the Ulric Cross Airbase with full military honors.
The body then be flown to the ANR Robinson International airport in Tobago and taken to the Union funeral Home.
The body will lie in state at the Legislative Chamber at the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) on May 2, between the hours of 6am to 5:45 pm.
On May 3, there will be a procession with full military honors to the Scarborough Methodist Church, the venue of internment for a thanksgiving service.
This will be followed by the final committal and internment with full military honors.
