Tabaquite MP condemns Government’s decision purchase two hotels for Tobago at a cost of 32 million dollars.

NEWS GRAPHIC 15The decision by Government to purchase two hotels for Tobago at a cost of 32 million dollars, is being condemned by former Works Minister, Tabaquite MP, Dr. Surujrattan Rambachan. A further $68 million dollars is expected to spent on renovations to the hotels. Dr. Rambachan is questioning the source of the funds allocated by the Tobago of Assembly for these purchases.
Dr. Rambachan in a statement on the issue questions the THA’s move to get involved in an area of business that it has shown no competence in. Mr. Rambachan says the THA cannot continue to be a runaway financial horse while the people of Tobago continue to be short changed. Mr. Rambachan further stated that the people of Tobago deserve more, arguing that he has noticed that the Prime Minister seems to have taken a hands on approach to managing Tourism on the sister isle, proving that the current Tourism Minister, Shamfa Cudjoe is grossly inefficient in executing the ministry’s required tasks. Mr. Rambachan says the Tourism Minister has, to date, made no visible impact on Tourism in Trinidad and Tobago.
