“Teachers do not engage in strike action.”

TTUTA’s 2nd Vice President Kyrla Robinson Thomas.

Mrs. Kyrla Robinson Thomas, TTUTA’s 2nd Vice President made the statement ahead of the commencement of action taken by teachers today.

A flyer was distributed via social media platforms on Monday, suggesting that teachers would not be out in their numbers at schools across the country. The information prompted a reaction from parents, many of whom decided to keep their children at home.

Speaking with News Power Now on Tuesday morning, Robinson Thomas said teachers will engage in a day of rest and reflection today. She said they will also partake in a march led by TTUTA in San Fernando.

She said the march comes as a result of the CPO’s failure to engage in effective negotiations with TTUTA.

She revealed that since there has been no communication, the General Council has decided to host the march in South, Trinidad.
