There is an assurance being given to Tertiary education students that their Government Assistance for Tuition Expenses, will not be
tampered with-this as government moves to cut expenditures in light of falling energy prices.
Tertiary Education Minister, Fazal Karim, responding to statements made by Opposition Senator, Shamfa Kudjoe that students
needed to watch out for their GATE as it might be closed, said GATE is being expanded and is well secure.
Minister Karim noted that the new GATE e-service reflected increased accountability, explaining that with 67,000 students having
successfully registered electronically with GATE e-services, it is now easier to track, monitor and evaluate students.
