This came from Minister of Public Utilities Ancil Antoine, who toured the facility yesterday.
The Minister reportedly told workers that change would come soon.
Last Monday the workers of SWMCOL downed tools, calling for better working conditions and for back pay monies to be paid to them.
Minister Antoine promised that water would be returned to the facility soon and that they were having talks on payment of back pay.
The Minister informed the media that government had a comprehensive plan for waste management in Trinidad and Tobago and that they were looking at plans on how waste could be converted into energy.
Meanwhile, CEO of SWMCOL Ronald Roach revealed that increased funding at the landfill was badly needed.
