Nurses at the Port of Spain General Hospital have continued their protest action at the Institution.
The nurses have expressed concern with security issues at the Hospital.
This, after one of their colleges was allegedly attacked by a patient on Sunday.
The nurses also lament the fact that there have been four attacks in the last fourteen weeks.
Medical workers at the St. Ann’s and the St. James medical facilities have also shown solidarity with their colleges at the Port of Spain General Hospital.
Minister of Health Dr. Fuad Khan acknowledged the issues faced at the Institution.
However he revealed that with reference to the incident that occurred on Sunday, there were two sides to a story.
He was speaking on the Power Breakfast Morning Show earlier today.
The Health Minister revealed that the issue behind the protest was really a war between the Public Services Association and the Trinidad and Tobago Registered Nurses Association that just became a union, both of whom represent the nurses.
Reports indicate that the nurses were unhappy with the Minister’s suggestion of a turf war between the TTRHA and the PSA and the right to defend nurses all around the country.
General Manager of Nursing Care and the Head of Security at the facility Gwendalyn Louis- Snaggs claimed that the Health Minister was not taking the issue seriously.
The nurses have also called for an apology from Minister Khan.
He however has insisted that he has no intention of issuing any apology.
