The former husband of murdered businesswoman Vindra Naipaul-Coolman took the stand yesterday where it was revealed he failed to render assistance to his wife while she was being kidnapped.
Rennie Coolman made the revelation while being question by defense attorney Kwesi Bekoe.
He said no immediately attempt was made to contact the police, given the fearsome experience of witnessing his wife being accosted by armed kidnappers.
The defense then asked whether he contributed to the ransom but this was met with an objection by special State prosecutor Dana Seetahal SC after which the judge directed Mr. Coolman and the jury out of the courtroom.
The case was adjourned to Monday where Mr. Coolman will continue to be cross-examined.
