The JSC recommends improved technological security measures at the Port of Port of Spain

The Joint Select Committee on National Security has recommended an upgrade in the use of technology and improved security arrangements at the Port of Port of Spain.

The Committee made the proposal following a visit to the facility on Friday.

Fitzgerald Hinds, Chairman of the JSC on National Security, at a media briefing this afternoon gave some insight into issues surrounding the implementation of the scanner system at the Port.

JSC member, Paul Richards, provided details on other areas where weaknesses were identified.

Nicole Olivierre, also a member of the JSC, stated the importance of boosting surveillance at the Caricom Wharf adding there is need for better use of canine dogs.
