Head of the NGO, Fixin T&T, Kirk Waithe is calling on the media not to air anymore political broadcasts until campaign finance reform legislation is passed.
Speaking with News Power Now on Monday morning, he said traditional media is the greatest beneficiary of political campaign funds, the source of which is never revealed.
Mr. Waithe pointed out that many media houses are reporting on corruption but are still accepting money from political parties and are seemingly unconcerned with the source of these funds.
He added that it is now time for the media houses to walk their talk regarding corruption in Trinidad and Tobago and put country before profits.
He pointed out that the media has the power to force the Government to act.
The Fixin T&T head lamented that political parties enjoy little oversight under the law, adding that they are not obligated to meet the requirements set out to address financial crimes.
