Two more Zika cases have been confirmed in Trinidad.
The Ministry of Health, after consultation with the Caribbean Public Health Agency today,confirmed the two additional cases. This brings the total number of confirmed case to 11.
A woman in her late thirties located in the Barataria area is one of the persons infected.

The Ministry reports that the other case was located in Oropouche and that the virus was locally acquired in both cases.
The Insect Vector Control Division, County Medical Officers of Health, Siparia Regional Corporation and San Juan/Laventille Regional Corporation has been informed of the incident. According to reports, field work in those areas has commenced.
In light of these recent cases, the Ministry of Health continues to urge citizens to take preventative measures to protect themselves and loved ones from infection.
There are no confirmed cases in Tobago at this time.
